Took me 8 years to realize I was over-torquing deck screws in Edmonton winters

Oh man, don't get me started on deck building mistakes. I built my first deck back in 2015 and used regular drywall screws because they were cheap and I didn't know any better. Come spring half the boards had popped up like they were trying to escape. I also skipped the gaps between boards because I wanted it to look tight and clean. That was a dumb move. The wood swelled up so bad in the rain I could barely get a butter knife between some of them. At least your neighbor saved you before you had to rip the whole thing apart like I did. Did you have to pull up every board or just replace the stripped screws?

Tried a wireless alarm panel vs a hardwired one on a big job in Phoenix. The difference was night and day.

@webb.xena yeah, but repeaters can be finicky. Worth the extra days for reliability.

The day I walked off a job in Houston after a 14 hour shift with no lunch break

Nah, sometimes walking out just proves you couldn't handle the heat.

Tracker setup debate: Monthly spreads vs. rolling weekly logs

Yeah the rolling weekly thing has been a game changer for me too. I used to spend hours filling out those monthly trackers and then by week three I'd already given up on them because life got in the way. Now I just jot down the three most important things I need to get done that day on a sticky note and toss it when I'm done. No guilt about skipping a day, no wasted time drawing pretty graphs. The monthly spreads just set you up for failure when you miss a day and feel like you have to restart.

Found out the hard way that Procreate's default canvas settings aren't great for prints

Hard disagree on that one. Most printer problems come down to people not reading the manual or just using cheap paper and ink. You can avoid 90% of the headache if you buy a decent model and actually set it up right from the start. The "learn the hard way" stuff is usually just someone ignoring the basics and then getting surprised when it jams or prints garbage. I've seen it a hundred times with coworkers who grab whatever discount ink is on the shelf. Save yourself the trouble and stick with the manufacturer's stuff even if it costs a bit more.
