Just spent $40 on a 'precision' cake leveler that turned into a weapon
I bought this fancy wire leveler online to get those perfect flat layers for a wedding cake order. The thing snapped clean in half on the first pass through a basic vanilla sponge, sending cake shrapnel across my kitchen. I had to finish the job with a serrated bread knife I got for free with a coupon. The cake turned out fine, but now I have a new fear of kitchen gadgets. Anyone have a leveler brand that won't commit seppuku on a pound cake?
Yeah because nothing says "precision tool" like something that's basically a saw. If I wanted to tear through material with reckless abandon I'd just use my old bread knife. The whole point of a wire cutter is clean cuts, not turning your project into a woodworking accident.
