Found a 1946 barber license test in my grandpa's stuff, only 11 questions and one was about stropping
I was going through boxes in my parents' attic in Akron last weekend and found my grandpa's old barber license from 1946, plus the test he had to pass, and it was just 11 questions long. The one that got me was about how many strokes to use on a leather strop, and it had an exact number as the answer, which made me realize how much of this trade used to be taught as hard rules instead of feel. Do any of you older guys know if stropping was really tested like that back in the day, or was that just an Ohio thing?
