Spent $200 on a clipper blade sharpening kit and kinda regret it

I bought this fancy sharpening stone set online thinking I could save money by doing my own blades at home. The kit was $200, and after three tries I just wrecked a perfectly good Wahl blade set. Now I'm back to sending them out to a shop in town that charges $15 per blade, and they come back way sharper than anything I did. Maybe I just don't have the patience for it, or maybe those kits are overhyped. Has anyone else here tried sharpening their own blades and actually gotten it to work?

People get way too intense about sharpening their own tools like it's some kind of life skill you gotta master. I sent my clippers to a guy on Etsy once and he messed them up worse than I ever could, so now I just buy new blades every six months for like thirty bucks. The whole DIY sharpening thing feels like a trap for people who think they're gonna save money but end up spending more on broken stuff. Maybe it's just me but a $200 kit seems like overkill for something a shop can do for fifteen dollars and zero headache. Live and learn.
