That $400 clipper sharpening service was a complete waste

I sent my whole set of Wahl clippers to a mail-in sharpening place out of Ohio. Cost me $400 total with shipping both ways. When I got them back, two of the blades were still dull and one had a nick in it. Had to send them out again to a local guy who fixed them for $20 a piece. Anyone else have bad luck with those big sharpening companies?

The local guy is almost always better because they actually take the time to check each blade. Those big operations just run everything through the machine and hope for the best.

Oh man, you totally get it. I read somewhere that some of those big chain stores don't even oil the blades properly before shipping them out. They just crank through thousands and call it good. My friend works at a hardware store and he said the returns they get for warped or chipped blades are insane. Plus the local guys usually sharpen them right there in front of you, not just toss a new one your way.
