Walked past my old shop on 5th in Portland and the barber pole was gone
Drove through my old neighborhood last month and stopped at the corner where I cut hair for 7 years back in the 90s. The shop is a vape store now, and the pole with the red white and blue stripes got ripped out. What got me was the chairs, they used to be these heavy Belmonts we reupholstered ourselves every couple years, and now everything in there is plastic. Anyone else notice old shops losing the pole when they close up?
Question whether losing a barber pole is really worth getting worked up over, it's just a sign. Feels like shops change hands and styles shift all the time, not everything old needs to stick around.
