Saw three bikes this month with the same loose crank bolt problem
Every one of them came in with a creaking noise, and the customer thought it was the bottom bracket. I found the crank arm bolt was just a quarter turn from being tight enough, which lets the arm rock and make that sound. How often do you guys check this first before pulling the whole BB?

Always check the crank bolt first, it's the easiest fix.
