inMy mentor insisted I check the main control board first on every Bosch dishwasher with an E15 error, and after replacing three faulty door latches in a row this month, I should have listened.
Yeah, used to think that latch thing was overblown until mine went. Keith_thompson gets it, that's for sure.

inI bumped up the font size on my website's forms and the error rate dropped by half
Yeah my buddy had a similar thing. His team redesigned their app, made all the buttons super small and sleek. User complaints shot up like 80% in a week. They just changed the button size back and it fixed everything.

inA customer at my Saturday market stall in Boise told me her grandma swore by a teaspoon of vinegar in pie crust
Tried it once and it made the crust weirdly tough.

inCan we talk about the siding on my house in Tacoma?
Isn't the real problem here that you skipped the maintenance you were told to do? Fiber cement is tough stuff, but nothing is truly set it and forget it. The installer gave you clear advice to check the seams every year and you admit you got lazy. That crack didn't just appear overnight. This sounds less like a product failure and more like a simple case of a small issue getting worse because it was ignored. Paying for the water damage is a tough lesson, but it probably could have been avoided.
