So last week I swapped a bottom bracket and found a whole ecosystem living in there

I pulled the old cartridge out of a bike that had been sitting in a shed for 5 years near Seattle, and there was a spider nest and like 30 dead beetles packed around the cups. Has anyone else found weird stuff living inside a frame or bottom bracket shell?

You gotta admit though, rare finds do happen way more often than people think. Like that time someone found a first edition book at a garage sale for a dollar.
