I finally crunched the numbers on how much time I spend browsing shows instead of watching them

Last week I read a stat on a streaming blog that said the average person spends 18 minutes just scrolling through Netflix before settling on something, and I timed myself at 23 minutes, which made me wonder if anyone else has tried a random pick generator to break the habit?

Honestly the random pick generator is a solid idea but I tried it once and ended up with some weird foreign horror movie with subtitles that made no sense. Ngl I got hooked after 10 minutes though cause the plot was so wild. Tbh the scrolling is half the fun for me even if it wastes time, like I'll see a trailer for something and then forget what I was looking for. Maybe try closing your eyes and clicking the first thing your finger lands on, that's how I found this random documentary about competitive eating that changed my life.

Haha I feel this so hard, the random generator is a total gamble but sometimes it hits different. I did the same thing with some Korean thriller and spent the whole movie squinting at subs, then suddenly I was crying at 2am over characters I never expected to care about. And yeah the scrolling black hole is real, I'll be like "oh that looks good" then five minutes later I'm reading the cast list for a movie from 1987. That closed eyes trick is genius though, might have to try it next time I'm stuck in the infinite loop.
