Shoutout to the guy at the Portland retro video store who made me give a show a second chance

I was browsing at Video Game Heaven on Hawthorne last month and this employee overheard me trashing Battlestar Galactica. He didn't push, just said the miniseries pilot is basically a whole different show and to watch it first. I gave it a shot that night and I was hooked by the end of the first episode. Now I'm on season 2 and I can't believe I almost skipped this whole thing. Anyone else have a show they wrote off too early because they started at the wrong place?

Totally changed my mind on this actually... used to be the type to just jump into any show wherever. Thought pilots were usually slow and boring so I'd skip them. But that employee at Video Game Heaven basically saved Battlestar for me by telling me to watch the miniseries first. Makes me wonder how many other shows I've bounced off of just because I started in the wrong spot. Now I always check if there's a proper starting point before I give up on something. Kinda embarrassed about all the stuff I probably missed out on over the years because of that habit.

Always start with the pilot episode or miniseries for any show that has one. Most series don't hit their stride until after the first season anyway, but a pilot sets up the whole world. You missed nothing by skipping the original show.
