Paid $200 for a forge welding tutorial set that taught me nothing new

Bought a complete video pack from a popular smith online thinking it would level up my pattern welding. Turns out it was just the same basic stuff I already knew from watching free YouTube channels. Anyone else get burned by overpriced tutorials that don't go beyond beginner level?

Guess I'll play the other side here, it's a fair point to what @roberts.diana brought up but I think there's something to be said for paying for organized content from a known name. Even if the basics are familiar, having it all laid out in one place with clear steps can save a pile of time sorting through free junk on YouTube. Sometimes the value is in the convenience and the trust that the guy knows his stuff, not necessarily in brand new secrets.

Heard similar complaints from a buddy who dropped $150 on a Damascus tutorial series. Said it basically rehashed the same stuff from that one Alec Steele video from 2018. Kinda makes you wonder if some of these guys just bank on their name recognition instead of actually packing the content with useful info.
