That rail spike demo in Fairhope caught me off guard

Went down to the Gulf Coast guild meetup last Saturday and watched a guy turn a 10 inch spike into a usable bottle opener in about 12 minutes, but what really stuck with me was how he moved to the anvil horn with such a light touch and then asked the crowd for their own hammering habits, so have any of you found a specific rhythm or foot stance that makes the horn work better for you?
