inTried a cheap torque wrench from Harbor Freight and it snapped a bolt on my crankset
Budgets are funny like that... I once borrowed a torque wrench from a buddy that was off by like 40 percent and it wrecked a set of handlebars on my touring bike. Now I just use the beam style ones for anything delicate, they're ugly but they don't lie. Harbor Freight tools are okay for hammering stuff but not for precision work, that's for sure.

inPSA: A bad weld on a boiler in Toledo made me double-check every single joint now
That gauge was probably pegged at 30 psi by the time they noticed the leak.

inOld timer told me to wet my bricks before laying them
Tbh @mila_jones39 you might be onto something, I used to swear by wet bricks but now I'm rethinking it.

inWhy does nobody talk about drying sleeping bags right after a trip
Why do people act like waiting for a bag to air dry is going to turn it into a moldy mess? I've dried synthetic bags hanging in my basement for years, sometimes a couple days, and never had a problem with smell or insulation. A little low heat in the dryer probably works fine, but tumbling insulation around unnecessarily risks damaging the fibers way more than letting nature do its thing.

inPrinted a batch of business cards that came out looking like muddy soup
Jump into printing blind and hope for the best, right? That swamp water story hurts because I bet you paid extra for that "vibrant green" too. Nothing like a $200 lesson in color theory to really make you respect your local print shop.
