Spent 3 hours trying to figure out why a game rule didn't make sense, turns out I was reading the 2010 edition instead of the 2022 reprint.

I bought a used copy of Terraforming Mars off Craigslist and spent a whole evening confused why the corporate era cards felt off. Turned out the seller didn't mention they had the first edition rulebook mixed in with the newer components. Has anyone else gotten tripped up by edition differences like that?

And that's exactly the kind of thing that drives me crazy about board game collecting now. The worst part is when you think you've got a handle on the rules and then someone at game night points out you've been playing a card wrong for months because of a tiny wording change between printings. I had a similar mess with a used copy of Race for the Galaxy where the first edition had a different rule for how military worlds worked compared to the reprint. It's almost like you need to keep a spreadsheet of which edition you have and what changed just to avoid arguments at the table. The publishers really should put a big stamp on the box or the rulebook cover telling you which version it is.

Wait, Race for the Galaxy had different rules between editions? That's wild.
