The game night vibe at my place shifted big time after I bought a $30 table topper
Before, we'd play on my old kitchen table and people would get annoyed when cards slid around. Now with the neoprene mat, everyone leans in more and actually talks during turns. How did I not do this like five years ago?

That bit about people leaning in more really hits home. I've noticed small upgrades to a shared space (like a better lamp or even a decent coaster) quietly change how everyone acts. It's weird how the right tool just lets the fun happen.

Yeah, the "right tool lets the fun happen" is so true. It's like when you swap out a harsh overhead light for a couple of warm lamps. People stop squinting and start talking. Or putting out a big, solid bowl for chips instead of the flimsy bag. No one has to fight it, they just grab a handful and keep going. The good stuff just gets out of the way.
