Can we talk about the old hand at the Local 83 hall who said my tube welds look "rushed at the top"?
He said I was moving too fast on the last inch of the root pass, and after running three practice coupons in the shop at a slower pace the difference in the bead profile was obvious enough that I'm redoing my whole approach on the next vessel.
Reminds me of when my old foreman told me my cap was "walking away" at the end and I swore he was nuts till I watched him run one. Funny how a slow last inch fixes a whole bead.
