I finally quit rushing through post-weld heat treatment.

The last vessel I worked on hasn't had a stress crack since.

Man, that is such a huge win. Rushing that final step just invites problems down the line. Saw the exact same thing in our shop when we stopped cutting corners on the tempering cycle. The last batch of fittings we did that way has been running for two years now with zero issues. It really is one of those things you can't fake. Taking that extra time makes all the difference for the long haul.
