Unpopular take: tube rolling is not where you cut corners, my 3 hour job turned into 2 days
Everyone says just snug the tubes and move on, but I had a 60 tube boiler job in Gary last month where 4 tubes started weeping on the hydro. I figured it was bad tube ends, so I re-cut and re-rolled those 4, took me about 3 hours, and they still leaked. Turned out my roller was walking because I wasn't squaring it to the tube sheet, so the seat was uneven. Ended up pulling all 60 and redoing the seats with a torque wrench and a squared guide, which ate 2 full days. Anyone else been burned by assuming the roll was good just because the tube felt tight?
