Just realized the $13 used paperback I grabbed at a garage sale last month beat every new book my club picked this spring
Everyone in my group keeps voting for the shiny new releases with the fancy covers, and I usually go along with it. But the best talk we had all season came from a beat up copy of a 30 year old novel I found in a box in a driveway in Sacramento for $13. Half the group didn't even finish the new pick that month. So now I'm the one pushing for older stuff and getting side eye. Am I wrong that a good used find can beat a fresh bestseller, or is that just me being cheap?
