My book club argued about a 30 year old glossary for 45 minutes
Last Tuesday we were discussing a sci-fi novel from the 90s and this one guy, Dave, kept correcting people using the author's own glossary at the back. He had it flagged with 12 sticky notes. At first I thought he was just being a know-it-all, but then he pointed out that one character's lie about a moon's orbit actually contradicted the glossary in chapter 7. We sat there quiet for a full minute after he read both passages out loud. Realized I had been skimming over world building details for years, treating them like flavor text instead of clues. Now I check every appendix before forming an opinion on a plot hole. Has anyone else had a club member who turned out to be right after initially annoying everyone?
