PSA: I bought a $40 'discussion guide' for our club's read of 'The Overstory' and it was just a bunch of generic questions you could find online for free.

What's the best way you've found to prep for a really dense book without wasting cash on junk like that?

Forty bucks for a printout of Google results? That's brutal. For a book like that, I just read a chapter summary online right after I finish each chapter. It helps untangle the threads. Sometimes I'll find a good podcast episode breaking it down too. Saves a ton of money and actually sticks.

Chapter summary right after each chapter" is actually a great idea. I tried reading the whole thing first and got totally lost. That method would have saved me so much time.
