My bone folder split after 6 years and I spent 3 hours googling the best new one instead of just buying a cheap replacement at the craft store down the street
I was halfway through rounding the spine on a leather journal for a commission last Tuesday when my trusty Teflon bone folder just cracked right down the middle, and instead of driving 10 minutes to Michael's for a $8 plastic one, I wasted a whole evening reading reviews about Japanese vs. French bone folders and now I'm behind on my deadline, has anyone else gotten stuck in analysis paralysis over something this small?

Oh man, that hurts. I spent a whole Saturday last year picking out a new awl because my old one had a chip in the handle. Ended up watching like 5 different YouTube videos comparing awl brands, reading forum posts about handle ergonomics, even measuring my hand span to see if I needed a longer grip. Meanwhile my order of book cloth was sitting on my desk for a week. Finally bought a cheap one from a local shop and honestly it works fine. Sometimes I think the craft hobby turns into a shopping hobby real fast if you let it.

Wait, are you telling me I didn't need to spend three hours measuring the angle of my bone folder against my thumb joint before deciding which one to buy? I feel personally attacked because I've totally done the same thing, got obsessed with finding the "perfect" tool, and ended up using a random butter knife from my kitchen drawer for a week. Isn't it funny how we'll research a $12 tool like it's a car purchase but then just grab whatever's closest when we actually need to get something done?
