Planted 12 beefsteak seedlings on April 20th last year and we got a late frost that killed all but 3 of them. The hover state on my button was invisible to my coworker with color blindness

I was showing a dev a new sign-up flow last week and he kept clicking the same button twice because he couldn't tell when it was hovered. Turns out I only changed the color from blue to a slightly darker blue, but to his red-green color blindness it looked exactly the same. I added a subtle underline and a slight scale bump and he said it was way clearer. Has anyone else had to rethink hover states after testing with real users?

Spotted a branding fail at a coffee shop in Nashville last month

I was waiting for my pour over at this hip spot and noticed their logo was this tiny, thin line drawing on a mustard yellow wall. You could barely see it from 10 feet away. I asked the barista about it and she said customers walk in and miss the name all the time. She pointed out they spent $3,000 on that design. Has anyone else run into a logo that just disappears into its background?

Found a writing prompt from 3 years ago that finally clicked last night

I was digging through my old Google Drive folders last week and stumbled on a prompt I'd written back in 2021. It was about a guy who finds a locked room in his childhood home after his parents pass away. Back then I couldn't get past the first paragraph, everything felt flat and forced. But last night I was laying in bed thinking about my own grandparents' house in Lake Charles, Louisiana and that creaky closet door my cousin and I were always scared to open. Suddenly the whole scene poured out of me in about 25 minutes, all the sensory stuff like the rusty doorknob and the smell of mothballs. Has anyone else had an old prompt suddenly work for them years later? What made it click for you?

Hit 1,000 layers in a single Figma file last Tuesday

I was working on a dashboard mockup for a client and checked the layer count out of curiosity. 1,037 layers for one page. Had to spend three hours just cleaning up auto layout and grouping things properly. Anyone else run into files that just balloon like that?
