Had a bird fly into my studio mid-recording session

I was tracking vocals in my backyard studio last Tuesday when a sparrow somehow got through the screen vent and just started circling the mic stand. I froze for a solid 10 seconds while my friend Dave kept playing guitar in the next room yelling "what was that noise?" Ended up catching the little guy with a t-shirt and letting him out, but now I really need to figure out how to bird-proof this place before summer hits. Anyone else deal with unexpected wildlife crashing a session?

You got a bird in your mic setup? My buddy once had a squirrel run right through his garage while he was recording a podcast. Little fella just bolted across the floor, knocked over a mic stand, and was out the other side before anyone could move. Took him forever to get the audio cleaned up.

Did they at least comp you a decent take? That sparrow probably sounded better than half the vocalists I've worked with. I swear, wildlife has terrible timing. They always show up right when you're trying to nail that perfect take. You'd think a bird would know better than to interrupt a recording session. Guess their scheduling is just as bad as mine.
