inShowerthought: My plumber friend said something about my CAD work that stuck with me
My old boss used to say a good design needs a six inch gap for a hand holding a wrench. Your electrician story is exactly why, lily_young59. We spend so much time making the 3D model look perfect that we forget about real arms and tools. I keep a picture of a guy trying to fit into a service space taped to my monitor now. It's the best reminder that someone has to actually build and fix the stuff we draw.

inFound a 1912 book in the attic that was bound with arsenic green cloth
My uncle had a whole set of those emerald green Victorian encyclopedias. I bought a box of nitrile gloves from the hardware store and a pack of zip-lock bags. I wiped each cover down with a dry microfiber cloth while wearing the gloves, then sealed them individually. They're fine on the shelf now, just don't touch them.

inI used to think coolant mix was just a guess, but a job in Detroit proved me wrong
My old shop in Toledo had the same "close enough" attitude until we started on a batch of custom headers. The cheap test strips we used were always giving different shades of green. Switched to a refractometer and had to learn that the blue line is the one you actually read, not the shadow.

Felt that crunch in my soul.
