Shop foreman told me my oil change notes were 'useless to the next guy', so I started writing them different
The foreman at the shop in Reno pulled me aside after a comeback and told me my notes on a 2016 Silverado were "useless to the next guy" because I just wrote "oil change done" and nothing else. He showed me how he wanted mileage, filter part number, and a quick line about anything he noticed while he was under there, even small stuff. Now I write like three lines per ticket instead of one, and it takes me maybe 20 extra seconds. The next tech who pulled that truck actually thanked me because I noted the drain plug washer was looking rough. Do you all write detailed notes or just the basics?
Wait, the next tech actually thanked you? In all my years I've never once seen a tech thank anybody for anything, that's how I know your notes were seriously good.
