Rant: the archivist in Des Moines told me my spine lining was too thin, and she was right
I was complaining about my third repair coming apart at the hinge when she pulled a 1890s ledger off her cart and pointed at the mull, said "you're gluing paper to paper and calling it structure." Went home, doubled up my lining with a strip of linen, and that same book has held shut clean for 5 months now. Any of you use linen instead of straight paper for hinge linings, or do you go a different route?
