Remembering the smell of old glue in that Paris bindery
I was in Paris a few years back and wandered into this tiny bindery. The air was thick with the smell of animal glue, something you don't find much anymore. It made me think about how we all now use man-made glues to save time. I miss that old way, the patience it took. Sometimes I try to bring a bit of that back in my own work.

Wait, isn't that in some food too? Makes you think about what's in everything else, lol.

Actually gelatin in food comes from the same source, it's just processed differently. People have been using animal parts in glue and food for centuries because it works really well. Modern synthetic glues can have way worse chemicals that are bad for the environment. Using the whole animal for things like this is less wasteful if the meat is already being used for food. It's not that wild when you think about how many things come from animals. What's the real problem with using a natural product that we know is safe?
