I finally gave up on grow lights for my indoor ferns

Everyone says you need those expensive full spectrum bulbs, but my Boston ferns were still looking sad after a year. I moved them to a north facing window in my Portland apartment and they perked up in two weeks. Has anyone else found that simpler light works better for certain plants?

Totally agree... my maidenhair fern was a total diva under my grow light setup. Moved it to my bathroom counter where it only gets the morning light from a small frosted window and it's never been happier. Sometimes the fancy gear just stresses them out. My pothos on the other hand will grow anywhere, even in my dark hallway.
