My hack for getting cousins excited about gardening during family visits
During big family gatherings, my cousins used to ignore the garden. I started a small contest where they guess how many tomatoes will grow. Each kid picks a plant to care for while they visit. We use a notebook to draw pictures of the plants each day. It keeps them busy and teaches them about growth. Now, they ask about the plants every time they come over. It's a win for everyone.

Win for everyone" seems a bit strong. What if a plant dies or a kid just isn't into it? Feels like a lot of setup for something that might not click. Maybe it works for your family, but I can see it just adding more stuff to manage.

My buddy's kid lost interest after two weeks. Now he's stuck with a sad basil plant on his counter. Sometimes the extra work just isn't worth it.

Believed it was too much work until I tried it! The kids' interest made all the difference.
