My Monstera got root rot in my old Portland apartment

I was watering it like normal last month, but the pot didn't have enough drainage. The leaves started turning yellow and I had to cut off over half the roots. I repotted it into a terracotta pot with a chunky mix and it's finally putting out a new leaf. Anyone else had to do major surgery on a favorite plant?

Was it actually root rot or just some old roots dying off? Plants lose roots sometimes and it's not always a big deal. Sounds like you fixed the pot anyway so it's fine now.

Totally agree, my pothos does that all the time.
