Man, I feel your pain. I went four years just dipping blades in whatever temperature the oil happened to be that day, usually straight out of the garage in winter which was probably 50 degrees. Swapped to heating it up on a hot plate and actually checking with a thermometer and it was night and day difference, stopped getting those weird soft spots near the edge.
