Fixed a weird display glitch with just a firmware update

I spent two hours chasing a faulty display line in a G1000 only to find a simple firmware patch fixed it. Learned to check software version first before pulling any panels. Has anyone else run into a glitch like that?

Did you at least charge the customer for those two hours of "diagnostic time"? I swear half of these firmware glitches are just the manufacturer's way of keeping us honest. My favorite is when you finally find the fix and it was just one checkbox buried three menus deep.

Oh man @josephf10 you hit the nail right on the head with that checkbox thing... I had a car last week that just wouldn't shift right and after three hours of digging it turned out to be a setting labeled "adaptive learning reset" that was greyed out. It's like they hide these things on purpose just to watch us suffer. And yeah I always charge for diagnostic time because that's real work even if the fix is stupid simple. The worst is when you find the fix and then have to explain to the customer why it took so long... they don't get that we're basically reading the manufacturer's mind half the time.
