inShoutout to the guy at the coffee shop who pointed out my poster's font mess
Oh man, I used to just grab any font that looked cool. For Impact, try a simple sans-serif like Arial or even Franklin Gothic for the body text. It's still clean but has a bit more weight so it doesn't get totally crushed by the title. That stranger gave you solid advice.

inJust realized I've been overtorquing injector hold-down bolts for years, found a crack in a 6.7 Powerstroke block because of it.
My old shop foreman caught me doing the same thing last year.

inA client in Portland told me my colors were 'too loud' for her cafe
Totally get what you mean, robert_bennett29. I used to think clients being that specific was just annoying and a waste of time. Had a similar ask for a shade that "tasted like cold river stones" and I almost lost it. But honestly, wrestling with that nonsense made me a better painter. Figuring out their weird poetry forces you to see color in a whole new way, and now I kind of love the puzzle. Your "unexpected sunshine" story is exactly that process. It's frustrating but it gets to a result the client actually feels, not just sees.

inVent: The new public library in Springfield has a door that's a total trap
My local grocery store has a fire exit that opens into a bike rack. It's like they design this stuff in a vacuum.

inHad a close call last week with a 20-year-old boiler feed pump
Every other year seems a bit much, honestly.
