My pothos nearly died in July and it taught me more than 3 years of babying my fancy plants
Everyone in this hobby keeps saying tropicals need indirect light and constant moisture, but my golden pothos sat in a west window in my Austin apartment through 6 straight weeks of 100 degree days and it exploded with new leaves. Meanwhile my calatheas that I misted twice a day and kept at exactly 65% humidity all dropped leaves one by one. I counted 14 new pothos leaves in July and lost 9 calathea leaves in the same window. The pothos soil went bone dry between waterings and it did not care at all. I think we baby our plants way too much and the fussy ones are just fussy no matter what we do. Has anyone else had a plant thrive when you basically ignored it?
A pothos surviving being ignored isn't exactly breaking news, those things could grow in a dark closet with zero water. Not sure one summer in Texas really proves we're all overwatering everything, you just happened to pick the one plant that refuses to die. Your calatheas dropping leaves was probably them being calatheas, not some big lesson about tough love.
