Warning: my neighbor called my pothos a 'fake plant' and now I can't stop staring at it
My neighbor Carol came over last Tuesday while I was watering my pothos and asked if it was plastic because the leaves looked 'too shiny.' I explained that the shine comes from the waxy cuticle on the leaves, which is a real evolutionary trait that helps plants hold onto water in dry places, and she just shrugged and said 'okay' before walking off. Has anyone else had someone doubt their plant is alive, and did you bother explaining the science or just let it go?
