Sign guy in Austin told me a logo needs to work at 1 inch before it works at 100 feet
I was picking up some window decals last week and the guy running the shop in Austin held up two versions of the same logo, one tiny proof and one big banner. He said if the mark turns to mush at 1 inch, no amount of clever design will save it on a billboard, and honestly I had never thought about it that way. Now I keep shrinking logos down to thumbnail size before I commit to anything. Does anyone else test their marks small first, or am I late to this?
Wait, people actually shrink their logos down on purpose? I've been out here slapping full size designs on everything and wondering why my business card looks like a blurry smudge. Guess I've been doing it backwards this whole time, huh?
