Counted the block on my last 3 jobs and the wastage numbers surprised me
I always figured I was throwing away maybe 4 or 5 percent on cuts and breakage, just kind of a gut number I carried around. So on my last three jobs in Salem I actually wrote down every cube delivered and every cube that went in the wall, and the real number came out to 9 percent, which is way more than I would have guessed. The extra was almost all in the corners and around window openings where I was cutting down offcuts I could have reused if I had just stacked them instead of tossing them in the dumpster. I started keeping a small pallet of cutoffs by the mixer on the current job and I'm already down to around 5 percent. Anyone else actually track their waste or am I the only nerd with a notebook on site?
