Vent: My mortar mixer gave out halfway through a big patio job
I was about three hours into mixing for a 400 square foot patio in Springfield when the motor just quit. It was an old 5 cubic foot model I've had for maybe eight years. I had to run to the rental place and grab a new one, which set me back about 75 bucks for the day. Anyone have a good brand of mixer that's lasted them a long time?

My neighbor's old mixer finally died after mixing concrete for his entire fence.

Man, that "motor just quit" feeling is the worst, especially when you're already hours in. I had my old mixer die on a foundation pour a few years back. I ended up getting a Multiquick from a contractor buddy's recommendation, and that thing is a tank. It's not fancy, but the gear drive on it is simple and tough. I've put it through hell for five seasons now with just basic maintenance.
