Am I the only one who was rinsing canned beans for years before realizing it was costing me money?
I was at the grocery store in Denver yesterday and noticed the store brand beans jumped from 89 cents to a buck 29. That is when it hit me, I used to buy the fancy preseasoned ones for almost 3 dollars a can and dump them in chili without thinking. My wife pointed out I was basically paying extra for salt and a tiny bit of cumin I already have in the cupboard. Now I grab the plain cheap cans, rinse them, and season them myself, which saves me around 8 bucks a week. Has anyone else caught themselves overpaying for stuff they could season at home for pennies?
