I've been saving my veggie ends for stock, but is it really worth it?

I started keeping all my vegetable scraps like potato peels and celery ends in a bag in the freezer. I mean, it feels good to reduce waste and make free broth, but idk if the freezer power uses more energy. Maybe it's just me, but does anyone else do this and have thoughts on the cost vs. benefit?
