Spent $40 on a rice cooker at a garage sale and it cut my grocery bill by $60 a month
I always thought rice cookers were a waste since I can just use a pot, but I grabbed a used one for $40 at a garage sale in my neighborhood two months ago and it changed how I eat. I make a big batch of rice on Sunday and use it all week for stir fries, burrito bowls, and fried rice with whatever veggies are about to go bad. Last month my grocery bill dropped from around $280 to $220 because I stopped buying $4 frozen lunches at work. The thing that shocked me is how much meat I stopped buying, since rice plus beans plus an egg is filling and costs like 80 cents a serving. Anyone else got a cheap kitchen gadget that ended up saving way more than it cost?
