Hostel manager in Lisbon said my 40L backpack was why I kept paying baggage fees, so I switched to a 28L
I was flying Ryanair around Europe last spring and getting hit with 25 euro gate fees almost every leg because my bag was a hair over the free size. The manager at my hostel in Lisbon watched me repack one morning and said straight up that I was carrying stuff I hadn't touched in three cities, so I dumped half of it and bought a cheap 28L bag that fits the sizer every time. Anyone else made the switch down a size and actually stuck with it, or did you end up rebuying half the stuff you ditched?
