Pro tip: I used to think overnight buses were a bad idea until a trip to Berlin
I always avoided overnight buses because I figured I'd be too tired to enjoy the next day. For a trip to Berlin, the train was over 80 euros and the bus was 25, so I gave it a shot. I packed a neck pillow, an eye mask, and some snacks, expecting the worst. The bus was surprisingly clean, had free wifi, and I slept for about five hours. Woke up in Berlin at 7am, stored my bag at the station, and had a full day of sightseeing with zero hotel cost for that night. The money I saved paid for a really nice dinner. I learned that with a bit of prep, a night bus can be a solid budget move, not just a last resort. Anyone have other long bus routes that turned out better than expected?

That's a great point about prep making all the difference. It's like we're trained to avoid discomfort, but a little planning can totally flip the script.

Totally agree, prep is everything lol. I did a similar trip from London to Edinburgh and packed earplugs and a big hoodie. The bus had those reclining seats and it was weirdly cozy. Waking up in a new city with a whole free day feels like a life hack. The money saved on a hotel room went straight to museum tickets and good coffee.
