Remember when we all used to buy those airport water bottles?
I wasted about $50 over a few trips before I just started carrying an empty one through security. What's your go-to refill spot after the gate?

Ha! I'm pretty sure I single-handedly kept the Hudson News at JFK in business for a summer. I love how @garcia.miles mentioned the "airport essence" in bathroom water - I always swear I can taste a hint of stale pretzel and regret in mine. My go-to now is those weird bottle fill stations near the family restrooms too, but I still feel like I'm sneaking around doing something wrong every time I use one. Eventually my brain will accept that it's not a crime to not pay $5 for water.

Oh man, that "wasted about $50" line hits too close to home. I think I funded a small airport's water bottle budget for a whole year before I figured it out. My go-to spot is whatever bathroom is closest to my gate, because I'm usually running late and just need to fill up fast. The water always tastes a little funny, but it's free, so I can't complain.

My personal record was buying three bottles on a single layover in Denver because I kept leaving them at different gates. I feel you, elliotburns, that bathroom water does have a certain... airport essence. I've started hunting down the dedicated water bottle fill stations they sometimes hide near the family restrooms. The water tastes marginally less like it passed through the plane's bathroom sink, which I count as a big win.
