Serious question, I thought paying for seat selection was a scam until a 14 hour flight to Manila changed my mind
I always picked the free random seat and figured the $35 airlines charge was just a cash grab, then I got stuck in a middle seat next to the bathroom on a 14 hour flight to Manila last year. On the way back I paid the $35, got an aisle seat, and actually slept for 6 hours instead of 45 minutes, which honestly made the whole trip feel shorter. So is there a cheap way to score a decent seat without paying the fee, like checking in exactly 24 hours before or asking at the gate?
