The $30 hotel wifi booster I laughed at actually saved my trip
I rolled my eyes so hard when my cousin handed me this little travel router before my Portland trip last month. Figured it was another gimmick to drain my wallet, but after 3 nights of the hotel lobby being the only spot with decent signal, I finally plugged it in. That tiny GL.iNet thing turned the crappy room connection into something I could stream on, and it synced my phone and laptop at the same time. Anyone else tried one of these or do you just suffer through the lobby chairs like I used to?

They work fine when the signal is borderline, but mine got hot and dropped connection twice a night, which drove me crazy. A $10 ethernet cable into the wall jack did more for my last work trip than any router could. Different setups for different folks, I guess, but I’d rather pack light and gamble on decent hotel wiring.
