Used to book flights on Friday nights, then a $19 fare to Nashville on a Wednesday morning changed my mind
For two years I booked every trip on Friday evening because that's when I got paid, and I always paid $310 to $380 round trip to see my sister. Last month I set an alert and grabbed a Wednesday 6am flight to Nashville for $19 each way, which saved me enough to cover her birthday dinner. Now I'm wondering if early week flights are always this cheap or if I just got lucky with a random sale?

Switched my whole booking habit after reading stuff like this because I always assumed cheap fares only popped up on random days and there was no pattern to it. Booked a Tuesday flight to see my parents last month and paid $47 when the same route on a Friday was $280, so now I'm a believer that early week is where the deals live. The catch is you have to be flexible and okay with a 6am wake up call, which most people hate. Grab the alert and watch prices for a couple weeks before you book and you'll see the Tuesday and Wednesday pattern show up again and again. Friday and Sunday are the days everyone wants to fly so of course they cost more.
