Cutting out convenience store snacks saved me more than I thought
I used to buy chips and drinks every time I got gas for my car. Now I make sure to pack snacks from home before I leave. This change has saved me about $50 each month. It's a easy habit that really helps my budget.

I mean, what finally made you notice how much you were spending there?

Actually, it was when my credit card got declined for a small purchase. I had to look at my statement and saw all the coffee shop charges adding up. Turns out I was buying a latte every day without thinking. The decline was for a $5 sandwich, which felt embarrassing.

That credit card decline sounds like a real wake up call. Was it more the shame of the moment or seeing the actual number that hit harder? Makes you wonder how much we all run on autopilot with small buys. So after you saw the total, what was the first thing you actually cut out? Did you stop cold turkey or just scale back?
